Farewell to an honest Evangelist who was so true to God’s word! Today, the world mourns as Billy Graham passed away at his home in North Carolina at the age of 99. Billy Graham said that “My one purpose in life is to help people find a personal relationship with God, which, I believe, comes through knowing Christ.” I was blessed to have attended two of his public sermons and spent few minutes in conversation with him about Christ. Mr. Graham took Christ literally when He said in Mark 16:15, “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” He has preached the Gospel to nearly 215 million people in more than 180 countries and territories. Of course, as usual, Mr. Graham also had his share of detractors criticizing him for being too liberal and refusing to play into partisan politics. His supporters loved and called him “simplistic.” Of course, he was simple. In my opinion, through his extraordinary ministry, Graham has overwhelmingly been regarded in a positive light to millions. He was the evangelist who did not rip off millions like many church leaders. Graham’s integrity has encouraged millions to seek his spiritual guidance. He has been rated as one of the ten most admired men in the world. As a man of God, he was non-judgmental, sincere, innocent and accepting everyone as Jesus did without age, color, or ethnicity, gender or nationality. In one of his final sermon, he said that “Our country is in great need of a spiritual awakening. I have seen how far people have wandered from God.” May his memory be eternal! Heaven is rejoicing today for its gain!
