A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.~ Diane Mariechild. When I think about the women in my life, I think of Proverbs 3: 15-18 describes the value of wisdom in female gender. Wisdom is “she.” But, in my heart, it really speaks indirectly of those wonderful virtuous women in this world. 15. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. 16. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honor. 17. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her and happy is everyone that retaineth her. The second selection, Proverbs 31:20-22 speaks to what it means to be a virtuous woman: 20. She stretchest out her hand to the poor; yea, she reaches forth her hand to the needy 21. She is not afraid of the snow for her household; for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22. She maketh herself, coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

Women’s Day is about not gender competition but gender parity: women and men, and girls and boys, being of equal value and enabled to fulfill their potential. Women’s Day is a tribute to all the women who have fought across time and space against all forms of discrimination, exclusion, marginalization, violence and lack of equal opportunities for women.

Women’s Day is celebrated globally on March 8 every year to honor their remarkable contribution to our society. The day also commemorates the inspiring role of women around the world to secure women’s rights and build more equitable societies. Women’s Day also remembers the voices of many women that go unheard and who continue to be dominated from securing their rights and realizing their full potential.

Woman – the power to create, nurture and transform! The word ‘woman’ conjures up the images of selfless love, care and affection. At the same time, women ignite the spirit of power and hope. Unfortunately, across the world, women had to (in some cases still has to) fight for their independence and protection of rights. Since decades, women had struggled and are still fighting to express their right to speech, to vote, to equality, to education, to income and most importantly, to freedom. Let us recognize their invaluable contributions in our lives and to the world.

My prayer on this Women’s Day – God of love, passionate and strong, tender and careful, I thank you for all the women across the globe. We thank you that those mothers gave us life and nurtured us all these years. My mother gave me my faith, helping me to know you your ways. She taught me how to love and how to sacrifice for others. She taught me that I should always live for Jesus and my family as she has. Bless her and all mothers across the globe with the grace they need and which you want to give them today. Help them to feel precious in your eyes today and to know that we love them. Give them strength and courage, compassion and peace. Bless them this day with your love. Happy Women’s Day to two most beautiful ladies in my life – our dearest Amma (both mine and Ajitha’s) and Ajitha! Happy Women’s Day Wishes and Prayers for all of you wonder women reading this!
