URGENT CALL TO LIGHT A CANDLE

The battle over faith and leaderships between the fractions of the Orthodox Church continues to cause much pain, suffering, and agony for many ordinary believers!  As we have recently celebrated the sacrifice of unconditional LOVE through the birth of Jesus Christ and are just about to enter a new year in 2019, let us pray for the unity and reconciliation of the Church!  Let us flee from the boasting of the Pharisee and learn through our own sighs of sorrows the humility of the Publican.  Let us cry out to the Savior, “Have mercy on us, for through You alone are we reconciled.”

Let us Light a Candle on New Years Eve to live in harmony with one another, respectful of each other’s human rights and human dignity!  Christ says —- “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  John 8:12

Prayer

Loving heavenly Father we thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to be with us, to live in us and to guide to live and work together in love and unity. Teach us how to live together in unity and fellowship with one another, and lead us into the paths of peace and righteousness – so that we may be well pleasing in Your sight.  We come to You because You are our Savior and Benefactor Who grants peace and solace to those who suffer.  It is only You that can heal our wounds and ease the pain caused by the bitter hate, especially of those crying families. Shield them and us under the shadow of Your Cross.  Teach the Church spiritual fathers, hierarchies and the faithful how to love one another as Christ loved us and keep us from doing anything out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but rather teach us humility of heart, so that we consider others before ourselves – and help us to be slow to anger and quick to forgive as we abide in You and You in us.  Guide everyone in the New Year to live in harmony with one another, respectful of each other’s human rights and human dignity – this we ask in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Amen
